¹² The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East. ¹³ Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. ¹⁴ They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty. ¹⁵ "Behold, I come like a thief! Assyria's pride will be brought down and Egypt's scepter will pass away. ¹² I will strengthen them in the LORD and in his name they will walk," declares the LORD.

¹³ If a man pays back evil for good, evil will never leave his house. ¹⁴ Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out. ¹⁵ Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent- the LORD detests them both. ¹⁶ Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom? ¹⁷ A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. ¹⁸ A man lacking in judgment strikes hands in pledge and puts up security for his neighbor. ¹⁹ He who loves a quarrel loves sin; he who builds a high gate invites destruction. ²⁰ A man of perverse heart does not prosper; he whose tongue is deceitful falls into trouble. ²¹ To have a fool for a son brings grief; there is no joy for the father of a fool. ²² A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. ²³ A wicked man accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the course of justice.

¹ When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. ² Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." ³ The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. ⁴ Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negev. ⁵ Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. ⁶ He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.

¹ I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? ² My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. ³ He will not let your foot slip- he who watches over you will not slumber; ⁴ indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. ⁵ The LORD watches over you- the LORD is your shade at your right hand; ⁶ the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. ⁷ The LORD will keep you from all harm- he will watch over your life; ⁸ the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
